Frequently asked

Video to quiz FAQ, answered honestly

Everything you might ask before turning a video into a quiz: how it works, what it supports, how to share and export, and how your content is handled.

Getting started

VidQuiz watches the whole video and writes down what was said, in order, then pulls the points that matter into clear multiple-choice questions with answers and short explanations. That written account is a close paraphrase rather than a word-for-word transcript. You can edit any question before you share it, so you are always in control of the final quiz.
Paste a YouTube link and VidQuiz watches the video itself, with no transcript, captions or download needed. For a Vimeo link, an MP4, an uploaded course module, webinar, lecture or screen recording, paste that video’s transcript and VidQuiz writes the questions from it.
About a minute. A twenty-minute YouTube video took VidQuiz 63 seconds end to end: 52 seconds to read the video, 11 to write the questions. A pasted transcript is quicker still.
Yes. Every account starts on the free plan: 3 quizzes a month, up to 30 minutes of video each, no card needed and no expiry date. Paid plans raise the monthly allowance and the length of video VidQuiz will read. You can also answer the sample quizzes on this site first: they are real VidQuiz output from real YouTube videos, so you can see exactly what you get before signing up.
Yes, and it depends on your plan. Starter handles videos up to 30 minutes, while Creator and Team handle videos up to 2 hours. Enterprise length limits are custom.

Questions, formats and editing

Every plan generates multiple-choice and true/false questions. Creator, Team and Enterprise unlock the full set of question types so you can match how you assess.
Yes. Every generated quiz is a draft. Reword, reorder, remove or add questions, then publish only when you are happy. Nothing goes out until you approve it.
Yes. Every question carries the timestamp it came from, so you can jump to the exact moment in the video to check or refine it in one click.
VidQuiz works with many spoken languages and writes the quiz in the language of the video. If your video is in a supported language, you get a quiz in that language.
VidQuiz produces a strong first draft from what is actually said in your video, but we do not guarantee perfect accuracy. That is why you can review and edit every question before sharing. You always have the final say.

Sharing, exporting and privacy

No. Share a link and anyone can take the quiz in the browser. You can also export it to your LMS.
Yes, on every plan. Export to Google Forms, PDF, CSV, QTI, Moodle GIFT or a Blackboard upload file. QTI imports into Canvas or Brightspace as a native quiz. For Blackboard, use the dedicated Blackboard export, since Blackboard's own QTI importer wants a different package version. VidQuiz does not produce SCORM packages.
Yes. Create the quiz's share link and open it yourself: you get exactly what a learner gets, with every answer hidden until you pick one and a score at the end. Share that same link with learners, or export the quiz, when it is ready.
Your videos and quizzes are yours. We only process the content to generate your quiz, and we never sell or share it.
