Blooket alternative

Blooket alternative and websites like Blooket for teachers who need a graded quiz in the LMS

Blooket is a review game. You build a question set, or pick one from Discover, host it in a mode like Gold Quest, Tower Defense or Racing, and students answer on their own devices to earn coins, defend towers or win the race. The free Starter plan hosts up to 60 players a game with unlimited question sets and homework of up to 14 days, and Blooket Plus raises that to 300 players and 365 days.

The short answer

Blooket is a classroom review game: students answer a question set inside game modes like Gold Quest and Tower Defense. Starter is free for up to 60 players a game, and Blooket Plus raises that to 300 and adds downloadable reports, but Blooket shows the Plus price only after you sign in. The closest game alternatives are Gimkit (Pro $59.88 a year), Kahoot (Kahoot!+ from $36 a year) and Wayground. If you need a graded quiz in an LMS, VidQuiz writes multiple choice questions from a YouTube lesson and exports QTI 1.2, GIFT, Blackboard, Google Forms CSV, CSV and PDF.

Teachers look for a Blooket alternative for two different reasons. Some want a different game: more strategy, a bigger player cap or a cheaper published price. For them the honest shortlist is Gimkit, Kahoot and Wayground, and we lay out the plans below. Others have a different problem. The review game went fine, and now the same material needs a quiz that counts toward a grade in Canvas, Google Classroom, Moodle or Blackboard. Blooket prints a set as a worksheet with an answer key and lets Plus users download game reports as a spreadsheet, but its help center describes no way to export the questions as a quiz file your LMS can import.

VidQuiz solves the second problem and only the second. Paste a YouTube link to the lesson you taught, and it writes multiple choice questions with the correct answer marked, a short explanation and the timestamp each question came from. Then it exports QTI 1.2 for Canvas and Brightspace, a Moodle GIFT file, a Blackboard tab-delimited file, Google Forms CSV, plain CSV or a PDF with the answer key. The same CSV also fills Blooket's own import template, so the review game and the graded quiz come from one set of questions.

Blooket turns a question set into a game students want to replay and keeps the questions and scores inside Blooket. VidQuiz does a narrower job: it turns a recorded lesson into an LMS-ready quiz file with a timestamp on every question.

A class being recorded on video, the kind of lesson a teacher turns into a review game and a graded quiz

Step Blooket VidQuiz
Getting the lesson in Type questions into a set, import Blooket's spreadsheet template as .csv, or bring a Quizlet set as tab-separated text Paste the YouTube link into VidQuiz
Writing the questions You write them, or the free Khanmigo Blooket Generator drafts them from a topic and grade level you type Multiple choice questions are written from the video itself with the correct answer marked and an explanation
Where students answer Inside a Blooket game mode, live or as homework Wherever you import the file: the LMS quiz, a Google Form or paper
Getting scores out Game and homework reports; the spreadsheet download is a Plus feature The quiz runs in your LMS, so the gradebook records the score
Getting it into Canvas or Brightspace No QTI export described in the help center Import the QTI 1.2 zip; the LMS grades the items
Getting it into Moodle, Blackboard or Google Forms Print the worksheet and answer key, or retype the set Import the GIFT file, the Blackboard tab-delimited file or the Google Forms CSV
Reusing the set as a Blooket game Already there Paste the CSV rows into Blooket's template; one formula turns our answer letter into Blooket's answer number

Blooket rows are taken from its help center articles on spreadsheet import, Quizlet import, Khanmigo, printing question sets and downloading reports. VidQuiz has no speech recognition of its own: a YouTube link is the one source it reads unaided, and any other recording needs its transcript pasted, up to 60,000 characters.

What is a good alternative to Blooket?

It depends on which part of Blooket you would be replacing. If it is the game, the closest alternatives are Gimkit, which adds an in-game economy and lets as many students join as you like on the free plan, Kahoot for a fast whole-class quiz show, and Wayground for self-paced quizzes with a big shared library. Each publishes more of its pricing than Blooket does.

If the lesson video is the source and a graded quiz is what counts, a better alternative writes the questions for you and hands you a file your LMS reads. VidQuiz takes a YouTube link, writes multiple choice questions with the correct answer, an explanation and a timestamp, and exports QTI 1.2, Moodle GIFT, a Blackboard tab-delimited file, Google Forms CSV, plain CSV and a PDF with the answer key.

Many teachers keep Blooket for review day and give the unit quiz somewhere else. The two only overlap on asking questions.

Is Gimkit or Blooket better?

Gimkit is better for older students and for classes bigger than 60, because its free Basic plan lets as many students join as you want and its money-and-upgrades mechanic rewards strategy. Blooket is better for variety and younger classes: more game modes, a free homework mode and a lighter learning curve, with Starter capped at 60 players a game.

On price, Gimkit publishes Pro at $59.88 a year or $14.99 a month, and Blooket shows Plus only inside a signed-in account. Neither exports questions as an LMS quiz file. The full side by side is in our Gimkit vs Blooket pricing article.

How much is Blooket Plus?

Blooket does not publish the price on an open page. Its help center sends you to Settings, then Plan, then Upgrade Now, where you choose Plus, billed yearly, or Plus Flex, billed monthly, and pay by card. Third-party listings in 2026 report Plus at $59.88 a year and Plus Flex at $9.99 a month, but read the figure on your own Upgrade page before you put it in a purchase request.

Group plans for teachers, schools and districts are quoted by group size, with a downloadable quote you can pay by purchase order or card. Plus buys the 300 player cap, Plus game modes, question-by-question reports with a spreadsheet download, homework up to 365 days, audio and folders. It does not add an LMS export.

Can you export Blooket questions to Google Classroom or Canvas?

Not as quiz items. Blooket's help center describes printing a set as a worksheet with a separate answer key, which you can save as a PDF, and, on Plus, downloading game and homework reports as a spreadsheet with an Overview tab and a Participant Summary tab. It describes no export of the questions as a QTI package, a Google Forms file or a Moodle file.

So a Blooket set cannot go into a Canvas item bank or a Google Forms quiz without retyping it. VidQuiz writes a QTI 1.2 zip that Canvas reads through Import Course Content and New Quizzes item banks, and a Google Forms CSV for a quiz attached to a Classroom assignment. The LMS then grades the multiple choice items itself.

What websites are like Blooket but count toward a grade?

The game platforms record a score inside their own dashboards, and getting that score into a gradebook usually means copying numbers by hand or reading a downloaded report. Tools that write a quiz file are the ones that land in the gradebook directly, because the quiz runs inside the LMS.

Check which question format your LMS reads before you pick a tool. Canvas and Brightspace read QTI, Moodle reads GIFT and Moodle XML, Blackboard reads its own tab-delimited file and Google Classroom uses a Google Form. A tool that only outputs a game link or a PDF still leaves you retyping.

When should you stay on Blooket?

Stay on Blooket if review games are the point, if your classes are under 60 players, or if students already ask for it by name. The free plan is generous, Discover is full of ready sets, and a quiz generator does not replace any of that.

Add VidQuiz when a recorded lesson also needs a graded quiz in the LMS, or when writing forty questions and their wrong answers is what eats your Sunday. A 30-minute lesson becomes a reviewed multiple choice set in a few minutes, and the same rows go into Blooket's template for the review game.

Why people pick VidQuiz

Built around video, end to end

An LMS file, not a game link

QTI 1.2 for Canvas and Brightspace, GIFT for Moodle, a tab-delimited file for Blackboard and a Google Forms CSV on every paid plan, so the questions land in your question bank as ordinary quiz items.

One set for the game and the grade

The CSV fills Blooket's import template with one formula for the answer numbers, so the review game on Thursday and the graded quiz on Friday come from the same reviewed questions.

A timestamp on every question

Each question records the moment in the video it came from, so you can settle a disputed answer in seconds and send a student back to the part that explains it.
