How do you export a NotebookLM quiz?

You cannot, at least not with a built-in control. Google's help page for the feature lists the quiz controls as full screen, hint and the navigation arrows. The flashcard controls on the same page include "Download your flashcards as a CSV file". Quizzes have no equivalent.

That asymmetry is the whole reason "notebooklm quiz exporter" is a search anybody makes. The workable routes out are all manual or third party: copy the questions by hand, ask the notebook chat to restate the quiz as plain text and paste that into a document, or run the same source through a tool that exports. Google also warns that when a notebook contains a Play Books ebook, publisher restrictions may block downloading generated artifacts at all.

There is no published number of quizzes per day. Google caps the AI work behind quizzes instead of counting the quizzes themselves, and since September 2, 2026 that cap is compute-based: it factors in the complexity of your prompt, the models and features you use, and the length of your chat.

What Google does state is how the quota behaves. It refreshes every five hours until you hit a weekly limit, and you can see what is left under Settings then Usage. In the Studio panel a bar shows the expected AI cost of a generation before you run it, and when you are out of limit the web version offers Generate later, which queues the artifact and can take a couple of hours. The older published caps still apply to the containers: 100 notebooks, 50 sources each on the free tier, 500,000 words per source, and separate daily figures of 50 chat queries and 3 audio generations.

How much does Gemini Notebook cost?

Gemini Notebook itself has no separate price. It is bundled into the Google AI plans, so what you are buying is a higher usage ceiling and more sources per notebook. Google publishes the US dollar figures on its Gemini subscriptions page.

• Free, $0 with a Google Account: standard limits, up to 50 sources per notebook.
• Google AI Plus, $4.99 a month: two times the standard usage limit, up to 100 sources per notebook.

• Google AI Ultra, $99.99 a month: five times the AI Pro limit, up to 600 sources per notebook.
• Google AI Ultra at the higher tier, $199.99 a month: twenty times the AI Pro limit.
• Business, Education and Enterprise: bought through Google Workspace or Google Cloud, quoted rather than listed.

Is NotebookLM the same as Gemini Notebook?

Yes. Google renamed NotebookLM to Gemini Notebook in July 2026 and says it is the same product, with every existing notebook still accessible. The help center moved with it, from support.google.com/notebooklm to support.google.com/gemininotebook.

This matters if you are comparing tools, because a lot of the writing about the quiz feature predates the rename and half the internet still calls it NotebookLM. If an article quotes limits or plan names that do not match what you see in the product, check its date before you trust the numbers.

Are NotebookLM quizzes good?

For self-study they are good, because the questions are grounded in sources you chose rather than in whatever the model remembers. The difficulty control and the free-text prompt give you more steering than most generators, and the Explain button turns a wrong answer into a short lesson instead of a red cross.

For assessing other people they are the wrong shape. There is no answer key to print, no score that lands in a gradebook, no way to send the quiz to someone who is not in the notebook, and no export. If your job is to check that thirty people watched a training video, the quiz being trapped in your own notebook is a hard blocker rather than an inconvenience.

Does NotebookLM work from a YouTube video?

Yes. YouTube URLs of public videos are one of the accepted source types, alongside audio files, PDFs, Word and PowerPoint documents, CSVs, Google Docs, Slides and Sheets, web URLs, ePub files, images and Play Books titles. Each source can hold up to 500,000 words, or 200MB for an uploaded file.

The difference in practice is what comes back. Gemini Notebook cites the source, which for a video means the transcript rather than a moment on the timeline. VidQuiz writes a timecode onto each question, so when someone disputes an answer you click the chip and land on the second of footage the question came from. For a Vimeo link, an MP4, a webinar recording or a screen capture, paste that video's transcript alongside it, because VidQuiz has no speech-to-text of its own.

What are the best NotebookLM alternatives for making a quiz?

It depends on which half of the job you are missing. If you want the research workspace and the quiz is a bonus, nothing else is really competing with Gemini Notebook at $0. If you need a quiz other people take and a file you can import somewhere, you want a quiz tool.

VidQuiz is the closest swap for the video case: same input, but the output is a graded, exportable quiz. Quizgecko and QuizRise both generate from documents and video and are worth a look if your sources are mostly written.
