A Google Classroom quiz assignment creates a blank Google Forms quiz and attaches it to the assignment, and you type every question into that form yourself. VidQuiz writes the questions instead. Google Classroom handles the part around a quiz beautifully. You create the assignment, it makes a blank Google Forms quiz and attaches it, students see it in their stream, and with grade importing on, scores come back to the Classroom gradebook in one click. On managed Chromebooks you can even turn on locked mode so students cannot open other tabs while they take it.
What Classroom does not do is fill that form. Every stem, every option, every answer key, every point value, and every piece of feedback is typed by hand into Forms. Twenty questions is roughly a hundred fields. That is the reason a weekly comprehension check after a lesson video quietly turns into three questions, or gets skipped.

Google Forms has no built in CSV question import, so the import step uses a Workspace Marketplace add on or a short Apps Script. Everything else in the Classroom flow is untouched.
How do you make a quiz in Google Classroom?
Go to classroom.google.com, open the class, click Classwork, then Create, then Quiz assignment. Enter a title and instructions. Classroom creates a blank Google Forms quiz and attaches it to the assignment. Open that form, add each question, mark the answer key, set points, and assign to your students. The quiz itself lives in Forms, and Classroom handles distribution and grades.
Two settings are worth checking before you assign. Grade importing pulls scores from the form into the Classroom gradebook, and it requires that the quiz is the only attachment on the assignment and that the form collects student email addresses. Locked mode stops students on school managed Chromebooks from opening other tabs, and it notifies you if someone exits and returns.
Can Google Classroom generate quiz questions automatically?
Classroom does not write questions from your material. It creates an empty Google Forms quiz and hands you the editor. Google has been adding AI assistance across Workspace for Education, and availability depends on your domain edition and what your admin has enabled, but the default quiz assignment flow still starts blank.

How do I import questions into a Google Forms quiz?
Google Forms has no native CSV question import, which surprises teachers every year. The two working routes are an import add on from the Google Workspace Marketplace, several of which read a CSV of questions, options, correct answers, and points and build the form for you, or a short Google Apps Script that creates the items programmatically.
VidQuiz exports its CSV in that shape, so the import is a file upload rather than a formatting project. If your district blocks Marketplace add ons, the Apps Script route needs no install and is worth setting up once if you build quizzes every week.
Will grades still import into the Classroom gradebook?
Yes. Importing questions changes what is inside the form, not how Classroom reads it. Keep the quiz as the only attachment on the assignment and keep the form collecting student email addresses, and the Import grades button pulls every score in at once. Note that importing grades overwrites any grades already entered for that assignment, so import once the responses are in.
This is the practical argument for generating into Forms rather than hosting the quiz somewhere else. Your roster, your gradebook, your accessibility settings, and your parent communications all stay inside Google, and the only thing that changed is that you did not type the questions.
Is this useful for a flipped classroom?
It is the clearest use case. In a flipped model students watch the video at home and class time goes to practice, which only works if they actually watched. A short comprehension quiz attached to the video is the accountability check, and the reason teachers skip it is that writing one per video is unsustainable.
Generating the quiz from the video itself changes that math. The questions test what was said, each one carries a timestamp so students can jump back to the part they missed, and the whole thing lands in the Classroom assignment they already open. A five minute review beats a forty minute authoring session every week.
