Vimeo video to quiz: a Vimeo quiz maker that writes the questions
Turn a Vimeo video into an interactive quiz from its transcript.
What you are looking at
Three quizzes VidQuiz generated from three real YouTube videos. They are saved output, not generated in your browser. Pick one to answer it, and open the source video to check the questions against what is actually said in it.
Your own video gets a fresh quiz once you sign up.

This page only serves quizzes that were already generated, and it does not send your link anywhere. Reading a video takes about half a minute of real work on our side, so it runs in your account, not in an anonymous demo.
What VidQuiz reads: paste a YouTube link and VidQuiz watches the video itself. For any other source (Vimeo, an MP4, a screen recording, an upload) paste that video’s transcript and VidQuiz writes the questions from it.

The short answer
Last updated July 2026
A Vimeo quiz maker turns a hosted video into a set of questions instead of making you write them. VidQuiz reads YouTube links itself; for a Vimeo video you copy the transcript from the video’s own transcript panel and paste it in. From there VidQuiz builds multiple choice questions: four options each, the correct answer marked, a one line explanation, and a timestamp back to the moment it came from. Edit anything, then share a link or export to Google Forms, PDF, or a QTI package for your LMS. It works on any plan, and the quiz lives outside the Vimeo player.
Plenty of course and client content lives on Vimeo, so turning a Vimeo video to quiz should be just as easy as any other source. Paste the Vimeo link with the video\'s transcript and VidQuiz surfaces the key points and writes multiple-choice questions with answers and short explanations. VidQuiz watches YouTube links itself, but it has no speech-to-text of its own, so for Vimeo the words have to come from you. Vimeo\'s own auto-generated captions download as a text file and paste straight in.
It works well for the polished, gated videos creators host on Vimeo: course modules, training films, and client deliverables. Generate a draft in seconds, edit anything that needs a different angle, then share the quiz by link or send it to your LMS. You always control the final set of questions.

Can you add a quiz to a Vimeo video?
Yes, two different ways, and they solve different problems. Vimeo has its own interactive quiz feature, where you open the interactive editor and place hotspots or overlay elements on the timeline, then designate which clickable element is the correct answer. It supports multiple choice, true or false, and this-or-that questions, and it can show viewers a results panel at the end. Vimeo documents this as an Enterprise plan feature.
The other way is to generate a separate quiz from the video and deliver it outside the player. That is what VidQuiz does. You lose the in-player experience, and you gain a question bank you can edit, reuse next term, export to an LMS, and grade against a roster. For anything that has to end up in a gradebook, the second route is usually the practical one.
How do you make a quiz from a Vimeo video?
Copy the Vimeo URL, paste it into the Quiz Studio above, and generate. There is nothing to download, transcribe, or upload first. The generator reads the spoken content from start to finish, picks the points that carry the meaning rather than the intro music, and returns a draft with the answer marked and a short explanation on each question.
Then do a review pass, because that is where the quality comes from. Cut questions that test trivia, sharpen anything ambiguous, and check the coverage matches what you wanted people to take away. A twenty question draft usually takes a few minutes to tighten, against the afternoon it takes to write the same quiz from scratch.
Can you use private or unlisted Vimeo videos?
You can quiz any Vimeo video you have the rights to use. Where a video is locked down with domain restrictions, a password, or privacy settings that block outside access, the generator has to be able to reach the content, so the fastest path for a fully private file is to upload it directly rather than pasting the link. Your content stays yours either way, and it is processed to build your quiz, not to train anything.
What kind of Vimeo content works best?
Anything carried by speech. Vimeo is where a lot of polished, gated material lives: course modules, training films, conference recordings, client deliverables, and internal briefings. All of those quiz well because someone is explaining something, and explanation is what a question can be built from.
What works less well is video that is mostly visual or musical, a showreel, a silent product loop, a highlights edit. There is little spoken content to build on, so the draft will be thin, and that is worth knowing before you queue up a back catalogue of brand films.
