Three quizzes VidQuiz generated from three real YouTube videos. They are saved output, not generated in your browser. Pick one to answer it, and open the source video to check the questions against what is actually said in it.
For your own video, the live demo on the home page runs the real generator once, free, with no account.
This box only holds saved quizzes.
It has not sent your link anywhere. The live demo on the home page does run it: one real generation, free, no account and no card, on the same engine paying customers use.
Socrative Essentials costs $10 per seat per month billed annually ($120 a year) and Socrative Pro costs $16.67 per seat per month billed annually ($200.04 a year). Essentials removes the 5 quiz storage limit and keeps rooms at 50 students. Pro raises a room to 300 students, gives you 30 rooms and triples the weekly AI allowance, from 50 AI question generations a week to 150. If your classes or sessions stay under 50 people and you write most questions yourself, Essentials is enough. Buy Pro for large sections, shared libraries or heavy AI use.
Every figure here was read on socrative.com/pricing in October 2026, in US dollars. Several software directories still list an older structure (Pro for K-12 at $89.99 a year and Pro for Higher Ed and Corporate at $179.99 a year). Socrative's own page no longer shows those plans, so check the date on any comparison that quotes them.

The yearly totals are the ones Socrative prints beside each plan. The page also has a monthly billing toggle, which shows Essentials at $14.99 and Pro at $24.99 a month, so paying annually saves about a third. Students never pay: Socrative states it is free for students on every device.
How much does Socrative Pro cost?
Socrative Pro is $200.04 per seat for a year, shown as $16.67 a month. A seat is one teacher or trainer account. The pricing page offers 10 percent off when you buy two or more Pro seats, which brings a seat to roughly $180 a year, and the Organization plan drops it further to $172.80 a seat with a sales conversation, a dedicated account manager and consolidated accounts.
That makes the math for a department simple. Five instructors on Pro cost about $900 a year with the multi-seat discount. The same five on Essentials cost $600. The $300 difference buys bigger rooms, shared libraries and three times the AI allowance, and if none of the five teaches more than 50 people at once, most of that goes unused.
Socrative Essentials vs Pro, which limits actually differ?
Four of them matter in practice.
Room size. Essentials holds 50 students in a room at once, the same as Free. Pro holds 300. For a lecture section of 120 or a company all-hands, this single line decides the plan, and nothing else on Essentials works around it.
Rooms. Essentials gives 5 rooms and Pro gives 30. A room is how you run separate activities at the same time, so a teacher with six sections wants Pro or will be reusing rooms between periods.
Collaboration. Shared libraries, 20 of them, start at Pro. On Essentials each teacher keeps a private library and passes quizzes around with SOC codes, which copies a quiz rather than sharing one master version.
History. Essentials keeps reports for 90 days and Pro keeps them indefinitely. If you need last spring's results for an accreditation file or a training audit, 90 days is not long enough unless you export every report as you go.
What are the Socrative AI limits?
Socrative AI is metered by the week, per seat, in three separate buckets. AI Question Generation is 15 a week on Free, 50 on Essentials, 150 on Pro and 200 on Organization. AI Question Import, which turns pasted text or an uploaded document into a quiz, is 6, 25, 80 and 120. AI Report Analysis is 3, 20, 80 and 120.
Weekly metering has a consequence people miss when they compare plans. The busiest week of a term, the one before midterms when you are writing four quizzes at once, is exactly when a 50 a week allowance runs out, and the pricing page describes the allowance per week without saying anything about carrying unused requests forward. If AI drafting is the reason you are upgrading, size the plan for your heaviest week, not your average one.
One inconsistency is worth knowing about. Socrative's help center article on importing a quiz, dated April 24, 2026, labels Extract Questions from Document as Pro only, while the pricing page lists an AI Question Import allowance on every plan including Free. Until Socrative reconciles the two, assume pasted text works on every plan and test a document upload on your own account before you count on it.
Is Socrative free for teachers?
Yes, with three limits that decide whether Free is enough: 5 quizzes stored at a time, 1 room and 50 students per activity. Automatic grading is included and so is Excel import. For a single teacher with one class who rotates quizzes in and out, Free is a workable plan, and the practical trick is to keep your full question sets as files outside Socrative and import the one you need. Our Socrative import quiz template guide covers the Excel file column by column, including the 100 question limit per import.
Free stops working when you need more than five quizzes live at once, folders to organize them, or reports older than 30 days.
Is Socrative Pro worth it?
For live checks in a big room, yes. $200 a year for one instructor who teaches sections of 100 or more is modest next to what audience response tools charge, and nothing on the cheaper plans gets you past 50 students. For a team that builds a shared question library, Pro is also the first plan where sharing is a feature and not a workaround.
It is harder to justify when the upgrade is mostly about writing questions faster. The AI allowance is real, but it works from a prompt, from text you paste or from a document. It does not read a recording. If the material you teach from is a recorded lecture or a training video, the questions that matter are about what was said in that session, and a topic prompt will not produce them.
That is the job VidQuiz does. Paste the YouTube link to the recording, or the transcript of a video hosted anywhere else, and it writes multiple choice questions with the correct answer, an explanation and the timestamp each question came from. The export is a CSV whose columns paste straight into Socrative's Excel template, and Excel import is included on every Socrative plan, so the weekly AI allowance is not touched. The same question set also exports as QTI 1.2, GIFT, a Blackboard file or a Google Forms CSV when the quiz has to count in a gradebook, which our quiz converter page walks through.
How does Socrative pricing compare with similar tools?
| Tool and plan | Yearly price for one person | Live audience limit | Imports questions from a spreadsheet |
|---|---|---|---|
| Socrative Essentials | $120 | 50 per room | Yes, Excel template, 100 questions per file |
| Socrative Pro | $200.04 | 300 per room | Yes, Excel template, 100 questions per file |
| Mentimeter Basic (education) | $107.88 | Unlimited | Not covered on its plan pages |
| Kahoot!+ Gold (teacher) | $144 | 200 players | Yes, .xlsx template |
| VidQuiz Starter | $288 (or $49 a month) | Not a live room tool, the quiz runs from a link or in your LMS | Writes the questions and exports the spreadsheet |
Mentimeter and Kahoot figures come from each vendor's own plan pages, read in October 2026. Our Mentimeter pricing breakdown and Kahoot pricing breakdown cover those ladders in full, and the Kahoot spreadsheet template guide shows how its import differs from Socrative's.
These tools are not substitutes for each other so much as steps in one workflow. Socrative, Kahoot and Mentimeter run the live moment. VidQuiz produces the questions from the recording and hands them over as a file.
Which Socrative plan should you buy?
Stay on Free if you teach one group of 50 or fewer and can live with five quizzes at a time. Buy Essentials when you need unlimited quizzes, folders and a few rooms but your groups stay under 50. Buy Pro when any room goes past 50 people, when colleagues need a shared library, or when you rely on AI drafting most weeks. Ask for Organization when you are standardizing across several teams and want one invoice and one account manager.
Corporate buyers should check what they are really assessing first. Socrative is built for checking understanding in a live session. If the assessment is of job candidates and not of a class, a skills test drafted from the job description is the better fit, and no room size limit applies.
And if the slow part of your week is writing the questions, price that separately from the room. A one-time demo of 3 quizzes on VidQuiz shows whether questions written from your own recording are good enough to import before you pay for anything.
