A Blackboard quiz generator writes the questions for a Blackboard test so you do not type them into the test canvas one by one. VidQuiz reads a lecture, course, or training video, drafts multiple choice questions with the correct answer marked and a short explanation, and exports a QTI 2.1 package Blackboard Learn imports through Tests, Surveys, and Pools. Every question keeps a timestamp back to the moment it tests. One caveat worth knowing up front: Blackboard imports QTI in the Original Course View, so on Ultra you import into an Original-view course or pool and copy the questions across.
Blackboard is where the test has to live, but Blackboard does not write it for you. The test canvas gives you a clean editor and an empty pool, and filling that pool is the slow part: reading back through a recorded lecture, deciding what is testable, typing each question stem, writing the options, marking the key, and repeating it twenty times. For one weekly test across a couple of sections, that is most of an afternoon.
VidQuiz does the drafting and hands Blackboard a file it already understands. Paste the recorded lecture, the Blackboard Collaborate session, the course module, or the recorded webinar, and it reads the spoken content and writes multiple choice questions with the answer marked and a one line explanation of why it is right. Each question carries a timestamp chip pointing at the moment in the video it came from, which helps when a student disputes an item or asks where something was covered. When the set looks right, export a QTI 2.1 package and import it into Blackboard the same way you would import any question pool.
One honest detail decides your import path. Blackboard supports QTI import and export in the Original Course View only. If your course runs in the Ultra Course View, you import the QTI package into an Original-view course or a pool first and copy the questions across, because Ultra does not accept QTI directly yet. The questions themselves are generated from your own video, every one is editable before you export, and there is no perfect accuracy guarantee, so review the set once before it counts for a grade.

Blackboard is strong at deployment, grading, and the Grade Center. The gap this fills is the writing: producing the question pool before you import it.
How do I import a quiz into Blackboard from VidQuiz?
Export your quiz as a QTI 2.1 package, then in the Original Course View open the Control Panel, go to Course Tools or Tests, Surveys, and Pools, choose Pools or Tests, select Import, pick Import QTI 2.1 Package, browse to the file, and submit. Blackboard processes the package and shows a results page, then the questions land in a pool or test you can deploy to any content area.
If your course uses the Ultra Course View, import the QTI package into an Original-view course or a pool first, then copy the questions into your Ultra course. Ultra does not accept QTI import directly, so this copy step is the supported route rather than a workaround.
Does Blackboard Ultra support QTI import?
Not directly. QTI import and export are supported in the Original Course View only. In practice you import the QTI 2.1 package into an Original-view course or into a shared pool, then copy those questions into your Ultra course, where they behave like any other Ultra question.
This is the single detail people miss, so it is worth stating plainly. The file VidQuiz exports is correct QTI 2.1; the limitation is on Blackboard Ultra reading it, not on the export. Plan the one copy step and the import is clean.
What question types come through the QTI import?
Blackboard reads several question types from a QTI package, including Multiple Choice, Multiple Answer, True or False, Fill in the Blank, and Essay. VidQuiz generates multiple choice items with a marked answer and a short explanation, which import cleanly as Blackboard multiple choice questions with feedback.
Point values, deployment options, timers, and whether answers shuffle are set in Blackboard after import, where those delivery settings belong. The content, the stems, options, answer key, and feedback, travels with the file so you are not rebuilding anything by hand.
Can I use the same quiz in Canvas or Brightspace?
Yes. QTI is a shared standard, so the same package imports into Canvas and into D2L Brightspace. Canvas reads QTI natively in both New and Classic Quizzes, and Brightspace imports QTI 2.1 straight into its Question Library. Generate the set once from your video and reuse it across whichever platform a course runs on.
What videos can it build a Blackboard test from?
Anything with spoken content. Recorded lectures and lecture capture, Blackboard Collaborate recordings, online course modules, recorded webinars, conference talks, screen recordings and software walkthroughs, and direct MP4 files. If the material is in the audio, it can become a Blackboard test.
