Edpuzzle costs $0 on the Basic plan, $15 a month for Pro Teacher paid monthly, or $13.75 a month billed annually, which is $165 a year. A Pro Teacher add-on that raises the yearly allowance of Supported Assignments to 250 costs another $19.25 a month and is sold on annual plans only. Pro School is quoted per school. The free plan stores 20 activities; Pro Teacher removes that cap.

Those figures come from the live Edpuzzle pricing page and the Edpuzzle help center, read in October 2026. Review sites still quote anything from $11.50 to $15 a month for Pro Teacher, and several say it includes 10 Supported Assignments. On the current pricing page 10 is the free plan's allowance and Pro Teacher includes 120.

The $396 figure is our arithmetic: $13.75 plus the $19.25 add-on is $33 a month, times twelve. Edpuzzle prints the two numbers separately. Paying annually instead of monthly saves $15 a year on the base plan, about 8 percent, which is a much smaller discount than most teacher tools offer.

Is Edpuzzle free for teachers?

Yes. Edpuzzle Basic is free and gives a teacher every feature, with one limit: you can keep 20 activities in My Content at a time. Video lessons, Docs, Quizzes, Slides and student projects all count toward the 20. Folders and assignments do not, so one video lesson assigned to five classes still uses one slot.

There are two ways past 20 without paying. Each colleague you refer who creates and verifies an account adds 3 activities to your limit and 3 to theirs. Or your school buys Pro School and every teacher in it gets unlimited activities. Teachers who delete old lessons to stay under the cap can also keep going on Basic for a long time, which is why so many never upgrade.

How much does Edpuzzle Pro Teacher cost?

Edpuzzle Pro Teacher costs $15 a month on a monthly plan or $13.75 a month on an annual plan, charged as $165 once a year. It adds unlimited interactive activities and 120 Supported Assignments a year. If 120 is not enough, the annual plan can be raised to 250 Supported Assignments for $19.25 a month more.

Supported Assignments are the newer part of the price. When you turn on Teach with Support while assigning a lesson, Edpuzzle adds learning insights once 10 or more students have submitted, one-click follow-up activities, copy and paste blocking with a cheating flag, and a dictionary for Docs. Each assignment you run that way uses one from your allowance, and Edpuzzle says the choice cannot be reversed once assigned. Ordinary assignments without that toggle do not touch the allowance.

Monthly or annual, which is cheaper?

It depends on whether you would cancel for the summer. Ten months at $15 is $150, which is less than the $165 annual charge, so on paper a teacher who cancels every June and comes back in August pays less on the monthly plan. Edpuzzle warns against exactly that: its cancellation article says the subscription rate may go up for the new school year and you would lose your current rate. If you plan to use Edpuzzle for several years, annual keeps the price you signed up at.

How you use itMonthly planAnnual plan
All twelve months$180$165

One semester, five months$75$165

Can a school pay for Edpuzzle Pro Teacher with a purchase order?

No. The Edpuzzle pricing page says purchase orders are accepted for schools and districts but not for Pro Teacher accounts. A teacher who wants Pro Teacher pays by card from their own account, and the school would have to reimburse them. Edpuzzle accepts credit cards, checks and wire transfers for school plans, and a multi-year school membership locks in the current year's rate for its full length.

Tax changes on November 1, 2026. From that date Edpuzzle adds US sales tax to Pro Teacher charges, including renewals, in states and localities that tax digital subscriptions, as a separate line on the invoice. Its help center is explicit that a school's tax exemption certificate cannot be applied to a Pro Teacher subscription in any state, because the individual teacher is treated as the end consumer. Pro School plans can still use a valid exemption certificate.

How much does Edpuzzle cost for a school?

Edpuzzle does not publish a Pro School price; you request a quote. What it does publish is the feature list: unlimited activities and Supported Assignments for every teacher, multilingual closed captions, standards-aligned Edpuzzle Originals content, an admin panel with verified teacher access, a curriculum specialist role, and school success management with onboarding. Edpuzzle says it is ESSA Tier III certified and eligible for Title I, II and III funding, which is usually how districts pay for it.

If a teacher already pays for Pro Teacher and the school then buys Pro School, the individual plan switches over and its payments are cancelled straight away. Edpuzzle Professional, its platform for teacher training courses with certificates, is an add-on sold only to Pro School customers. Schools that need to train and certify staff on more than video lessons, or businesses training employees, are usually better served by a corporate LMS built to train and certify a whole workforce.

Does Edpuzzle export quizzes to Canvas?

Edpuzzle connects to Canvas, Schoology, Moodle, Blackboard, D2L Brightspace and Google Classroom as an app. You add Edpuzzle to the course, assign a video lesson as an external tool, students answer inside the Edpuzzle player, and a grade from 0 to 100 flows back to the LMS gradebook, with open-ended answers counting as 0 until you grade them. The questions themselves stay in Edpuzzle. The help center does not describe exporting a lesson's questions as a QTI, GIFT or Blackboard file you could put in a question bank.

For most teachers that is fine, because the point of Edpuzzle is that students answer while they watch. It becomes a problem when the questions need to live in the LMS: a unit test built from a Canvas item bank, a Moodle quiz with random questions, or a department that must keep assessments in Blackboard. That is where a different tool earns its cost.

Is Edpuzzle Pro worth it?

For a teacher who assigns video lessons every week, yes. $165 a year removes the 20-activity cap, which is the limit that pushes most people to upgrade, and 120 Supported Assignments covers about three a week across a school year. The interactive player, the watch tracking and the anti-skip controls are what Edpuzzle does better than anyone, and nothing else on this page replaces them.

It is a weaker buy if what you really need is a graded quiz in your LMS built from the video. That is the job VidQuiz does. Paste a YouTube link and it reads the video, then writes multiple choice questions with the correct answer, a short explanation and the timestamp each question came from. The same set exports as a QTI 1.2 zip for Canvas and Brightspace, a GIFT file for Moodle, a Blackboard tab-delimited file, a Google Forms CSV, plain CSV or a PDF with the answer key. It costs more than Pro Teacher, $49 a month or $288 a year on Starter after a free demo, and it has no video player or watch tracking. The Edpuzzle alternative comparison puts the two side by side, including the rows Edpuzzle wins.

The Gimkit and Diffit rows come from our Gimkit Pro pricing breakdown and our Diffit pricing breakdown. Edpuzzle is the only one of the three built around the video itself, and its annual plan is the most expensive of the three individual plans. If you are weighing it against a live lesson platform instead, the Nearpod pricing breakdown covers Gold at $159 and Platinum at $397 a year, both billed annually only.

How to choose without overpaying

  • Count your activities before you upgrade. If you are at 18 of 20, delete last year's duplicates or refer two colleagues for 6 more slots before paying $165.
  • Ask about Pro School first. If several teachers in the building pay for Pro Teacher, a school quote can go on a purchase order and use the school's tax exemption, and individual plans cancel automatically when it starts.
  • Buy the 250 add-on only if you use Supported Assignments heavily. It more than doubles the annual cost, from $165 to $396.
  • Start from where the grade has to live. If a 0 to 100 score in the gradebook is enough, Edpuzzle covers it. If the questions themselves must sit in a Canvas item bank, read how the Canvas quiz generator builds the QTI package first.
  • Check whether you need the player at all. For a recorded lesson that only needs a graded check afterwards, the YouTube video to quiz workflow ties every question to a moment in the video without hosting the video.
