Three quizzes VidQuiz generated from three real YouTube videos. They are saved output, not generated in your browser. Pick one to answer it, and open the source video to check the questions against what is actually said in it.
For your own video, the live demo on the home page runs the real generator once, free, with no account.
This box only holds saved quizzes.
It has not sent your link anywhere. The live demo on the home page does run it: one real generation, free, no account and no card, on the same engine paying customers use.
MagicSchool Plus costs $12.99 a month, or $99.96 a year billed once, which works out to about $8.33 a month. The free plan stays at $0 but is capped at 20 AI generations a week, and on most tools it has no export at all, so you copy and paste the output yourself. Schools and districts buy Enterprise on a custom quote, which is the only plan that includes the Canvas, Schoology, Clever and ClassLink integrations.
Those figures come from MagicSchool's own pricing page and its help center articles on costs, generation limits, exports and refunds. The export gate and the refund rules are the parts most reviews leave out, and they are what decide whether Plus is worth it for you.
MagicSchool pricing at a glance
| Plan | Price | AI generations | Exports | Cost over 12 months |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 20 a week, refinements included | None on most tools, copy and paste | $0 |
| Plus monthly | $12.99 a month plus tax | Unlimited, with caps for extreme cases | Google Docs, Word, print, and Google Forms on eight tools | $155.88 |
| Plus annual | $99.96 a year plus tax | Unlimited, with caps for extreme cases | Same as Plus monthly | $99.96 |
| Enterprise | Custom quote | Unlimited | Plus exports, and LMS and SSO integrations | By quote |
The last column is our arithmetic, not MagicSchool's. Annual saves $55.92 against paying monthly for a full year, which is the 36% discount MagicSchool advertises. Monthly only wins if you need Plus for fewer than eight months.
How much does MagicSchool Plus cost?
$12.99 a month on the monthly plan or $99.96 a year on the annual plan, both for one teacher and both with sales tax added where your state charges it. MagicSchool's help center has a separate article explaining why individual subscribers see tax, which catches a few people out at checkout.
What Plus buys is mostly the removal of limits. Generations become unlimited, output history is kept, you can edit AI output as often as you like, the 50-plus student tools unlock, and exports switch on. MagicSchool also gives Plus users early access to new features through MagicSchool Labs.
Is MagicSchool free for teachers?
Yes, there is a genuine free plan, but it is narrower than the "free for teachers" banner implies. The help center sets it at 20 AI generations a week, and it counts every refinement as a generation. Ask for a quiz, then ask twice for easier wording, and you have used three. The count resets on Sunday at midnight UTC, which is Saturday evening in US time zones.
The limit that matters more for anyone building quizzes is exports. On the free plan, the help center says export is not available on most tools and tells you to copy the output and paste it into Google Docs or Word. The one exception is the Presentation Generator, which exports slides on every plan.
New MagicSchool accounts start with a 30-day trial that includes Plus features. When it ends, the account drops to the free plan and exports disappear, which is why MagicSchool keeps a help article titled "Why can't I export anymore?". If exports worked for you in your first month and then stopped, that is the reason.
What is the difference between MagicSchool Free and Plus?
| What you need | Free | Plus |
|---|---|---|
| Teacher tools such as lesson plans, rubrics and emails | Yes, within 20 generations a week | Yes, unlimited |
| Export to Google Docs or Word | No, copy and paste | Yes |
| Export a quiz straight to Google Forms | No | Yes, on eight tools |
| Student tools and student rooms | No | Yes, 50-plus tools |
| Output history | Limited | Unlimited |
| Canvas or Schoology integration | No | No, Enterprise only |
The Google Forms row is the one that moves most teachers to Plus. The eight tools that export to Forms are SAT ELA Practice Test, Multiple Choice Assessment, YouTube Video Questions, Survey Creator, Text Dependent Questions, Restorative Reflection, Math Story Word Problems and Math Spiral Review. You can switch between multiple choice and short answer at the moment of export without regenerating. Math written in LaTeX does not survive the trip, because Google Forms cannot display it.
Does MagicSchool Plus include Canvas or Schoology?
No. MagicSchool's help center says its Canvas, Schoology, Clever and ClassLink integrations are available to Enterprise partners only. An individual teacher on Plus gets Google Docs, Word, print and Google Forms exports, and that is where the quiz path ends.
That leaves a gap for teachers whose graded quizzes live in an LMS. None of the Plus exports is a QTI package for Canvas or Brightspace, a GIFT file for Moodle or an upload file for Blackboard. Unless the district has bought Enterprise with the integration turned on, getting a MagicSchool quiz into a Canvas question bank means retyping it.
How much does MagicSchool Enterprise cost?
MagicSchool does not publish an Enterprise price. The pricing page and the help center both ask districts to request a quote and mention volume discounts. What Enterprise adds is the district layer: a custom data privacy agreement, single sign-on, Clever and ClassLink rostering, the Canvas and Schoology integrations, tool controls and guardrails, usage dashboards, a customer success manager and onboarding. Professional services are billed on top.
If you already pay for Plus and your school later buys Enterprise, MagicSchool will refund the unused part of your subscription on a prorated basis from the date you ask. It is worth asking your principal whether a district deal is coming before you buy a year of Plus yourself.
Can I get a refund on MagicSchool Plus?
Only within 14 calendar days of your first payment, on either the monthly or the annual plan. After that, payments are non-refundable. The two plans then behave differently when you cancel, and this detail is easy to miss:
- Monthly. Cancelling stops the next charge, and Plus keeps working to the end of the month you paid for.
- Annual. The help center says that on cancellation the subscription ends immediately and Plus features are lost, even though the year was paid for.
So if you might stop using MagicSchool mid-year, cancel the annual auto-renewal close to the renewal date rather than early, or start on monthly until you are sure.
Is MagicSchool Plus worth it?
For a teacher who uses MagicSchool most days for lesson plans, differentiation, parent emails and the occasional quiz, yes. $99.96 a year is less than most single classroom subscriptions, the free cap of 20 generations a week runs out fast with daily use, and exports alone save a lot of copying.
For a teacher who mainly wants quizzes from video lessons, it depends on where those quizzes go. If the answer is Google Forms or paper, Plus handles it well and cheaply. The YouTube Video Questions tool works from a transcript you paste in, so you open the video on YouTube, click Show transcript, and copy it across first. If the answer is a graded quiz in Canvas, Brightspace, Moodle or Blackboard, Plus stops one step short, because it has no file your LMS can import.
That second case is what VidQuiz is built for. Paste the YouTube link and it reads the video itself, writes multiple-choice questions with the correct answer, an explanation and a timestamp for each, and exports a QTI 1.2 zip for Canvas and Brightspace, a GIFT file for Moodle, a Blackboard upload file, a Google Forms CSV or a PDF with the answer key. It costs more than MagicSchool, from $49 a month or $288 a year on Starter, so it pays off when retyping quizzes into the LMS is what eats your planning time. The MagicSchool alternative comparison sets the two side by side row by row, including the rows where MagicSchool wins.
How to get the most from whichever plan you pick
- On Free, count refinements. Write a precise first prompt with grade level, number of questions and question type, because every "make it easier" costs one of your 20.
- Keep the source file. A quiz that only exists inside one tool has to be rebuilt when the tool, the plan or the LMS changes. A CSV or QTI file is the version you can reuse next year.
- Match the tool to the source. MagicSchool is strongest on readings, topics and standards. For a reading that arrives as a PDF, a tool built to turn a PDF reading into a quiz saves the copy step. For a recorded lesson, start from the YouTube video to quiz workflow so every question is tied to a moment in the video.
- Check where the grade lives. If the score has to land in Canvas, read how the Canvas quiz generator packages QTI for Classic and New Quizzes before you pick a tool.
If you are comparing MagicSchool with the other teacher AI tools on price, the QuestionWell pricing breakdown covers the closest rival, at $70 a year with a long list of platform exports. The other tool teachers weigh against MagicSchool is Brisk, whose Brisk Teaching pricing works the opposite way: a free plan with unlimited usage and no individual paid plan on sale.
