Brightspace is where the quiz has to live, but Brightspace does not write it for you. The Question Library is a clean, reusable store, and populating it is the slow part: reading back through a recorded lecture, deciding what is testable, typing each stem, writing the options, marking the key, and doing it again twenty times. For a single weekly quiz across several sections, that is most of an afternoon.

Brightspace is strong at delivery, the Question Library, and grading. The gap this fills is the writing: producing the questions before you import them.

How do I import questions into Brightspace from VidQuiz?

Export your quiz as a QTI 1.2 package, then in Brightspace open Quizzes, click Question Library, and choose Import, Upload a File. The parsed questions are listed for review, and you click Import All or tick the ones you want. Course Admin, Import or Export or Copy Components is the alternative route, and it is the one to use for a whole course package rather than a question set.

Once the questions are in the Question Library, building the quiz is quick: create a new quiz, add questions from the library, set your timing and grading, and publish. The library copy stays intact, so the same set can seed several quizzes across sections.

Does Brightspace support QTI import?

Yes, and it is one of the cleaner QTI implementations among the major platforms, but the version matters. D2L states the QTI importer inside Quizzes supports only up to version 1.2 of the standard. That matters because QTI import is uneven across systems. Canvas reads it natively, Blackboard reads it in the Original Course View and wants 2.1 there, and Moodle core has no QTI importer at all. Brightspace handles QTI 1.2 as a first class import, which makes it a reliable target for a generated question set.

QTI or the CSV template: which should I use?

Use QTI when you can. Brightspace does offer a CSV question template that supports several types including multiple choice, and it works for a plain bulk upload, but the CSV route asks you to match a specific column layout and it carries less question metadata. The QTI 1.2 package brings the answer key and the per question feedback with it, so nothing is rebuilt by hand after import.

VidQuiz exports both a QTI package and a plain CSV, so either path is open. For a Brightspace quiz that keeps its answers and explanations, the QTI import is the shorter, safer route.

Can I use the same quiz in Canvas or Blackboard?

Yes. QTI is a shared standard, so the package that imports into Brightspace also imports into Canvas natively and into Blackboard in the Original Course View. Generate the set once from your video and reuse it across whichever platform a department runs.
