Can you make your own quiz on Quizizz?

You can, and there are two routes with very different time costs. Typing directly into the creator means building a card per question: the stem, up to five options, the correct one, a timer, and optionally an explanation. That is fine for five questions and genuinely tedious for thirty. The spreadsheet route lets you write everything in a grid, which is faster to draft, far faster to review, and much easier to reuse next term or next quarter.

The grid also makes the quiz reviewable by someone who will never log into a quiz tool. A subject matter expert will happily read a spreadsheet and mark the two rows that are wrong. For corporate training and compliance content, where a wrong answer key becomes a real problem later, that review step is worth more than the minutes the import saves.

How do you turn a video into a Quizizz quiz?

Paste the video link or upload the file, let the questions generate, edit the ones you want to change, then export and import. In practice the path is four steps: generate the draft from the recording, convert the answer key from letters to numbers, add a Time in seconds column if 30 seconds is not what you want, and save the sheet as .xlsx.

The answer key conversion is mechanical but easy to get wrong, and it is the single most common reason an import looks fine and grades wrong. VidQuiz marks the correct answer with a letter. Wayground wants a number that refers to the option column position, so A becomes 1, B becomes 2, C becomes 3, D becomes 4. If you have promoted a question to Checkbox because it genuinely has two right answers, Wayground accepts both as a comma separated list such as 2,3.

The explanations are the part that makes this handoff better than most. The paste and document routes go through Wayground AI, which reads what you give it and proposes questions. That path accepts PDF, PPT, PPTX, DOC, DOCX, JPG, and PNG, processes only the first 16,000 characters of a file, and takes up to 10,000 characters of pasted text at a time, one file per upload. It is a reasonable option when your source is already a written worksheet.

The spreadsheet route is the one to use when you care about the answer key, because you are stating it explicitly in a column rather than hoping a model infers it. That is why it is the path this page is built around: a quiz generated from a video already has a definite correct answer for every question, and the spreadsheet is where you assert it rather than leave it to be guessed.

What does not survive the import into Wayground

Timestamps do not travel. The template has no column for them, so the moment in the video each question tests stays in your VidQuiz copy. That is worth keeping, because it is what lets you answer a learner who disputes a question or an auditor who asks what the training actually covered. Keep the PDF or CSV export alongside the Wayground version and you lose nothing.

Formatting does not travel either. Only plain text imports, so bold, italics, colors, and any rich text are stripped on the way in, and a question body can carry one image at most. If a question depends on a formatted equation or a table, it needs rebuilding by hand in the creator afterward.

The last gap is participant scale rather than content. Wayground's free Basic plan caps a live session at 30 participants, and its paid tiers are quoted rather than listed publicly. That matters if you were planning to run a generated quiz across a large cohort in one session, and it is a good reason to know your other export routes before you commit a whole department to one delivery tool.

Wayground or Kahoot for a quiz you built from a video?

For a quiz generated from a recording, Wayground is usually the better landing place, for two concrete reasons rather than a general preference. Its template accepts five answer options against Kahoot's four, so a question with five plausible choices survives intact. And it has an Answer explanation column, which Kahoot's template does not, so the reasoning VidQuiz writes for each answer arrives with the question instead of being dropped.

Kahoot wins on the live room. The game format, the music, and the leaderboard do real work for attention during a training day or a class, and its stricter character limits push you toward questions that can be read off a projector in seconds. If the session is a performance, that constraint is a feature.

Neither is the right answer when the score has to be a record. If the question is whether every employee completed the compliance module and passed it, you want the result in a gradebook, tied to a person, and still retrievable in two years.
